  I have filed an assault charge with the lake county Sherrifs office. That was May 24 2016. Today is June 19th and still nothing has been done to resolve the case. A few days later me and my roomate went in to the sheriffs office to figure out what was going on with the case. After leaving the office with no help what so ever and no questions answered I was profiled by the work officer ( I happened to be a light skinned black man). After driving down the road for less then a mile I was pulled over by the officer who watched me pull out. When I asked what traffic violation I had committed he replied saying absolutely nothing was done illegally with my driving. He said I was pulled over for my appearance in the police station and how I was acting. Onto of that incident my roomate called to report a possible break in today which was not taken seriously and they hung up on him 3 times and the threatened to charge him with a crime if he called back. So what I am trying to say is Leadville is not a safe place to live and here police force is entirely corrupt. You are better off moving to another city, if you do choose to conceal & carry I suggest buying a fire arm because the police will not be helping in any way possible.

  I would like to thank Sheriff Rod & Fernando for their time in 2016 meeting with my young kids & I to give us tips about potential/safe hunting locations in the area. It's great when law enforcement takes the time to show the younger generations that they are there to help us.

  They wouldn't answer any questions, instead they'll just avoid you trying to get answers. Most of these cops have extremely foul mouths and don't care if it makes you uncomfortable. I felt bullied by the way one of the cops stared at me. I will never break the law again in Leadville with how scary and intimidating some of the cops there are.
